Myonerv Founder and CEO Sam Kamali has been awarded a £120,000 Cambridge NeuroWorks Fellowship, backed by ARIA (the UK’s Advanced Research and Invention Agency), to develop next-generation neurorehabilitation technology.
The fellowship supported the foundational work behind Myonerv’s wearable, closed-loop EMG-triggered functional electrical stimulation (FES) device, which is designed to help restore movement in the upper limbs of stroke and acquired brain injury patients. It provided the early funding and research support that allowed the technology — and the company — to get off the ground.
The Cambridge NeuroWorks/ARIA programme backs ambitious, early-stage neurotechnology projects with the potential to transform patient care, and Myonerv’s device is now progressing toward clinical trials as it builds on the platform this fellowship helped establish.
